The 17th day in HRS made it apparent that for
many of the contestants, the game was winding down. Most made a perfunctory pass at their jobs,
and the merest glance at skilling materials.
For all except the top four, emphasis was shifting to what they hoped or
planned to do once the contest had finished and they were back in their real
lives.
Even some of those with high current scores seemed pensive
and spent quite a bit of time alone.
Alysha, taking her very first turn as Super Sim, had quite a
list of items to read out. First of all,
there was an unexpected scoring change.
Sims creating items would not be allowed to sell the items for points
for the rest of the contest!
Braylen was dismayed.
Much of his current advantage came from the daily sale of a
painting. Some of the lower-ranking sims seemed pleased by the change,
however.
The Directors noted that Keira had been failing to present
books to the other members of the household.
She was sternly cautioned that if all sims, including herself, didn’t
have a book by the morning of Day 20, she would lose her job points.
Seeming to take the threat seriously, she
spent the day glued to her computer screen, even during meals.
Finally, there was to be a dinner party that evening, which
would be evaluated by the Directors.
Aileen’s hope of making it into the top 3 might well hinge on the
success of this event.
Hunter spent an inordinate amount of time at his repair job
that day—over the course of the day, he repaired the stove, the fridge, the
gaming rig, two sinks, a toilet, and a tub.
By evening when the party started, he was exhausted and tense. It seemed that the appliances provided for
the household had an expected useful lifespan slightly shorter than the duration of
the contest!
The dinner party was a moderate success, despite the fact
that most of the sims were exhausted and grimy at the start. Despite being both of the above, Deb did a
heroic job in her role as Chef, producing a lovely Caprese salad, grilled
veggie burgers, and another of her signature cakes. Aileen spent a lot of time socializing, but
failed to take her shift as mixologist, and Efrain said he was in no mood to
play the guitar for the event. In the end,
the directors awarded the party a silver medal, leaving Aileen unsure whether
that would be a help to her score, or the reverse.
I'm curious about Keira's books. Don't they bring in any royalties? I've got the impression she released quite some books, but maybe they are not selling well. I didn't explore the writer career yet :)
ReplyDeleteShe never sold any! She was the slowest writer I've ever seen in the game--I finally figured out it's because she's insane. She spends a lot of time talking to her friends the light, the desk, etc. and it takes her forever to get through a book. She honestly barely made it to the 8 required books by the last day--I kind of broke the rules and made her write all afternoon as well as in the morning.
